Hi Everyone,

Come Celebrate CASS’ 30th anniversary with the Advisory Forum with October 10th from 2-4pm at the CASS office Everyone is welcome to come by to eat cake, visit, and chat about the last 30 years of people supporting people, and celebrating the years yet to come!

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM) and there are a lot of great events happening to bring employers, job seekers, and professionals together. To get involved in Calgary events, check out http://www.calgaryemploymentfirst.ca/deam/

CASS has 2-for-1 admission to the upcoming Calgary Tattoo and Arts Festival! If you are interested, please contact the Resource Facilitator. Please ensure that you can pick up the tickets before you request them, so that they are all being used.  Support workers will not need to pay admission to attend this event while they are supporting someone.

If you are looking for a great volunteer opportunity, Senior’s Secret Service has a ton of positions open throughout the autumn to help provide, assemble, and distribute some holiday cheer to seniors in Calgary. See https://seniorssecretservice.com/ for details.

Oct 8: A Celebration of Calvin & Hobbes @ Memorial Park (1221 2 St SW) 9am-1:30pm. There will be indoor and outdoor activities for all ages- Calvinball, snow goons, and even transmogrifiers, as well as drawing workshops, discussions and performances.

Oct 10: Oktoberfest 1 Tournament @ Spruce Meadows. You ca n find out all of the info on this yearly tournament through https://www.sprucemeadows.com/tournaments/view_tournament.jsp?id=31

Oct 13: Free Skipping Event @ Calgary Tennis Club (295 90 Ave SE) Free jump rope demos of all kinds, and introductory sessions. You can see the schedule here: https://www.sportcalgary.ca/family-weekend

Oct 8-15: WordFest @ Various Locations. This yearly festival celebrates authorship and the art of writing. Please see www.wordfest.com for all associated events

Oct 10: Tall Tales/Long Lenses @ Alberta Wilderness Association Cottage School (455 12 St NW) 7pm. Admission is $5. See John E. Oct 12-14: Calgary Tattoo & Arts Festival @ BMO Centre. Fri 4-Midnight, Sat Noon-10pm, Sun Noon-6pm. Tickets are $25 for the day or $50 for the whole weekend. https://albertatattooshows.com/calgary has everything you’ll need to know.

Oct 13: Folclor Fest @ Chinese Cultural Centre (197 1 St SW) 5-11pm. Admission is $10 to this day of Latin Folklore dances and great food. There is more information on Facebook, at https://www.facebook.com/events/182193712403153/

Oct 13: Sci-Fi Night @ Rothney Observatory (210 Avenue W Hwy 22 S) 8-11pm. Watch the skies and hear stories about living in space, and the oceans and moons of Saturn and Jupiter. Oct 13: Darling Details Market @ Triwood Community Association (2244 Chicoutimi Drive NW) 10am-3:30pm. Admission is $3. There will be more than 50 vendors, and lots of giveaways.
